Leschenault Peninsula-Camp Belvidere
A wonderful site to stay - if you don't mind a few mozzies. Once an old pioneer settlement -in 1838 Thomas Little named the homestead Belvidere ,he ran cattle and water buffalo on the property then in the late 70's it was an alternative lifestyle community -they had 14 homes & even had a teacher, their homes were made out of all recycled material ,they lived here quite happily,I would presume, under their motto "No dogs No drugs and No dole" -sounds good to me until 1984 when the WA government bought the land for effluent disposal!I have tried to research more about this wonderful community but have not had much luck-it intrigues me!
