Day 5 Amberley to Christchurch

It was so sad to see the damage of the recent earthquakes .There are still so many people without homes,the roads are all damaged,the sewerage and pipe system is ,we were told,is unrepairable as it is so destroyed-there is waste everywhere apparently! A lot of the damage to rebuild on, you cannot see as it is underground,test are being done to see if the ground is stable ,the centre of Christchurch was still closed.It is a credit to all those who are working hard to regain normality in their lives - I wish them all the best and hope that they can reclaim some happiness and build new lives!

Lyttleton -a place very damaged by the earthquakes,a lot of the buildings are just a pile of debris or propped by supports or empty blocks which have already been cleared away...very sad.
