Life in Darwin
Jumping Crocs & Fogg Dam
Friday 7th May
Today we drove through Humpty Doo (yes its a real name - I didn't make it up) to see the jumping crocs ,it was great.... but believe me I will never swim here again! We also went to Fogg Dam where the dam wall was closed to pedestrians as there was large croc there somewhere!!!!Ahhhh Well.... we drove & I very cautiously got out of the car to take photos, imagining at all times a huge Jaws size croc leaping out to get me ,Shane thought it was hilarious! We got some amazing photos of water-lilies & the birds were amazing
The weather seems to be cooling down ,thank god Will upload new pics as soon as we can

Life in Darwin
Thursday 6th May
Shane began work today,he finally got the job yesterday after many phone calls & interviews, it was down to 2 of them & they decided to employ them both. The foreman called this morning @ 6.45am & asked Shane to come in for a couple of hours ,it is now 1pm & he is still there. He is supervising a building site, just beginning @ St Johns College in Parap....yay!We are finding here that they want to employ people staying for the season,at least 6 months, also they are waiting for jobs to start,Shane had rung every builder/carpenter in the phone-book & was sick of hearing either nothing or nothing yet - maybe in a couple of weeks! It was really getting to him, both frustrating & stressful...so I am so pleased he has something now,it is so awfully hot out in the sun, he is going to be exhausted when he gets home
I began massage in my little room on Tuesday,it is a lovely little room in a crystal/gift/clothing shop called Down To Earth, owned by a wonderful lady, Chris.I love working in my little room, it has a really nice feel about it,I have had 2 clients already - and trying to generate more,I am finding it challenging to start from scratch again ,as nobody knows me, but everyone seems to be very supportive.I have faith it will work out,it feels right.
Shane collected me some amazing driftwood(shaped exactly like a whale )when he walked the beach during the day so after work he took me to where he had found it & we explored the beach together, the beaches are full of gorgeous driftwood, tumbled glass & a few whole shells, some lovely curly ones-we haven't found any sand-dollars here yet & sadly you still cannot swim because of the stingers.
When we left the beach we gave an aboriginal fellow a lift back to Parap, squished in the back as we have no seats, such a funny character,he is from the Tiwi Islands originally but went to boarding school in Toowoomba ,where he says all the boys played "humbug" snuck in cold beer etc ,he now works as a translator for his people , he had been drinking & he politely apologised for asking us for for a lift, but said his family were being "obnoxious"- how funny Shane & I laughed about it later.... as he got out of the car he says so very seriously ,Can I ask you something? Shane & I both turned to him & said "Sure"..."You wouldn't give me 5 dollars for a beer would you?" How funny!
We had fish & chips at Nightcliff Beach ,watched the sun set over the water ,it was just so beautiful & peaceful...a wonderful end to the day
